Silent Frisco

Silent Frisco is a crew of San Francisco sonic missionaries dedicated to turning impossible situations into musical magic. We specialize in enabling performances in public spaces where "noise" has previously made such performances impractical or illegal. By using our custom "Silent Frisco" wireless headphones, the music can play while neighbors enjoy peace and quiet. Once one removes "noise" from the equation, public music gatherings can be seen for what they truly are: an unalienable civil right.
We are based in San Francisco but have traveled far and wide to bring this unique performance technology to happy listeners. Among the events that either Silent Frisco, or our founder Robbie "MoPo" Kowal have performed at are Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Treasure Island Music Festival, Electric Forest, Camp Bisco, Earthdance, Harmony Festival, Gathering of the Vibes, Sea of Dreams NYE, and Ghost Ship Halloween. We've put music on Ocean Beach in San Francisco, Miami Beach in Florida, and Town Beach in Bridgeport Connecticut. We helped to revive legendary outdoor artspaces the Silo in Houston and Austin Enchanted Forest. In 2010, Silent Frisco conceieved and executed the "Silent Soundclash Tour" the nation's first Silent Disco club tour. Show us a place where "music Is not allowed" and we will show you how to get make it happen.

Who will it be?! Only one way to find out...
Motion Potion

MoPo (aka Robbie Kowal) is one of America's most versatile,
experienced and flat-out joyous party rockers. His decade long mission is to 'put the party back into the party', and to connect the casual music fan with the hard core dance music mavens; proving that music is more than just beats. San Francisco's bootleg indie remix partypusher, is known for a rare ability to play exactly the right music for the moment and an expertise with a wide variety of genres that he seamlessly melds into a coherent blend. Since breaking out as a rare groove Dj in the 90's he has spent the 21st Century using eclectic club styles, break beat, trip hop and tech funk as a backdrop for his genrebending experiments. From a near religious love of funk and hip hop, to a lifetime study of rock and roll to a massive aptitude for latin, reggae and other outernational formats, MoPo incorporates bits and pieces of music culture into electronic edits that slam the dancefloor. As a backdrop, he creates, edits or chooses only the biggest baddest breaks, hooks and drops to create a sound that truly slams. To the dancer, MoPo is a breath of fresh air, often transforming a room into collective song or crowd chant that connect the audience to the DJ.
These abilities have seen him preceding, following or tagging with a
who's who of breakbeat heroes like Afrika Bambaataa, DJ Icey, Cut
Chemist, Grandmaster Flash, James Lavelle, Bassnectar, DJ Vadim, Tipper, Kraak & Smaak, Aquasky, Fort Knox 5, Z-trip. He's also been among the first DJs to play many a rock festival including an unprecedented 6-year run at Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival and the first DJ sets ever at Gathering of the Vibes, High Sierra, Berkfest, Caribbean Holidaze, Mid Atlantic Music Experience, and Rothbury festival. He even played at Govt Mule's legendary "Deepest End" show, called one of the Top 10 shows of the Decade by Jambase. A live turntablist for the indie techno circus The Mutaytor, MoPo has sat in with Parliament-Funkadelic, Galactic, Rebirth Brass Band and BLVD. He has opened for live music legends like James Brown, Maceo Parker, Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incident, Femi Kuti, Sheryl Crow,
Spearhead, Jurassic 5, Isaac Hayes, Blackalicious, and Pendulum.

u9lift

U9lift (aka Ben maybe) grew up on a mountain top outside of Willits CA, and after moving through a series of destination locations he was lured to the bright lights of San Francisco. Rave scenes and club dreams exploded off of the dot com boom transforming the city a wonderland of musical diversity. However bright lights soon turned into dark nights as the boom went bust. The ever evolving dance scene solidified as people began to fear the instability of the unknown, many of the smaller genres died off and the larger ones strived to develop radio stations and "top seller" charts. U9lift (Ben maybe) is the resurrection of musical exploration, music that defies genre yet defines emotion. U9lift the underground, a struggle to create a new sound.
Gordo Cabeza

DJing for over 15 years, the past 12 spent playing clubs, corporate events and private parties all over the US, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. Current residencies in San Francisco, Honolulu and Los Angeles.

As a tastemaker, producer and promoter he
has helped garner worldwide respect for the Afrolicious party he started and has gained critical praise for his remixes that have come out on Six Degrees Records and Akwaaba Records and his mixtapes and original production.

In high school, he took a fervent interest underground music and started attending basement shows and warehouse raves. To share his newfound passion, Haze founded NYC a pirate radio station with two tape decks, a mail-order transmitter kit and a ratty pair of old headphones that doubled as the studio mic.
Today, after logging thousands of frequent flyer miles and hundreds of gigs, Haze brings an eclectic flavor and sophisticated sonic palette to the turntables. Don’t be surprised to hear Israeli dancehall, Brazilian funk, Ukrainian hip-hop or German oompahtronics in the mix alongside the latest heavy bass cuts and always a few dusties from his deep crates!
