SILENT FRISCO @ LACMA VIDEO

One of the many joys of hauling Silent Disco gear around the country is watching the instant effect it has on the unsuspecting. Case in point: last Saturday at LA County Museum of Art. When we arrived at LACMA, the party was already underway, with bands, and the terrific Dublab Djs on the decks. But the vibe was still very reserved and sort of stereotypically “LA”. The crowd was hanging back, drinking, watching and the dancefloor was largely empty, like everyone was waiting for an excuse not to be the first. We gave them that excuse when the headphones went out and nearly instantly, more than 300 people were on the floor getting down. Folks who had refrained from even walking past the dancefloor were now busting moves all over it. Parents with their children, men with their girlfriends, civillians acting like rockstars for a precious 90 minutes. It’s what makes all the work worth it. WATCH THE VIDEO HERE.

NEXT WEEKEND IN SAN FRANCISCO
Saturday, June 30 at MonarchNickThayerPoster-300
Nick Thayer is on fire. For more than a decade, this Aussie production whiz has disproven the axiom that great producers can’t be great turntablists. He is clearly one of the best at both as his year’s of releases on a variety of labels and jawdropping sets accross the globe can attest. About 6 months ago, Nick was signed by Skrillex’s OWSLA label and he is finally recieving some of the attention his talent deserves. After returning from Europe to support Skrillex there, Nick will make an exclusive appearance to test to limits of Monarch’s VOID soundsystem. Get tickets in advance as capacity is limited.
